The following animations illustrate the movement of tagged lobster in the CRA 8 quota management area. Each animation starts when a batch of lobsters were released and steps through one month at a time for 4 years.  Blue dots represent a lobster that is known to be alive at the time (because it was recaptured later) and brown dots represent the last known position of a lobster.

We do not know the poisition of each lobster for every month so the positions shown in the animations are interpolated using a straight line between known positions for the lobster (at times that it was recaptured).  For this reason lobsters may appear to move across land or very deep water. There are also a few obvious errors in the positions reported (because they are on land or in very depp water).
